Alternative Spring Break
During Spring Break 2010, hundreds of young adults and student volunteers from across the United States traded swimming trunks for tool belts and teamed up with United Way to make a meaningful impact in communities across the country. From continuing to rebuild the Gulf Coast after hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Ike, to addressing the issues plaguing urban America, volunteer rolled up their sleeves to make an impact.
- National ASB program – March 28th – April 3rd, 2010 in Biloxi, Mississippi. More than four years after Katrina, hundreds of families have a long way to go to get back into their homes. United Way of South Mississippi is working to remedy this problem and put a roof over the heads of displaced families, while also helping to address basic community needs that existed before the storm ever touched the Gulf Coast.
